Welcome
A few years ago, after a work week of marathon days (building corporate website for an impatient real estate developer) I realized that I had been listening to Marty Grosz exclusively. I played everything I had, repeatedly, and then started buying more from the iTunes store. At some point I stopped and asked myself, "If I'm such a fan why haven't I seen him perform live?"

A quick search provided no information about upcoming performances. I dug deeper and learned two things - www.martygrosz.com didn't exist, and, more disturbing, I had missed a rare opportunity THE PREVIOUS WEEK of seeing Marty in person just a few hours north at Marquette University.

7 pm, Thursday, December 13.
Cost - $30, Students - $15
Private Reception with the Artist Following the Concert

Jazz guitarist Marty Grosz, son of German-American artist George Grosz, will be the subject of a documentary film by independent filmmaker Jay Brodersen. Portions of the film will be shot in the Museum galleries on December 12-13. The Haggerty Museum has a collection of George Grosz's works (gifts of Marvin and Janet Fishman) and some will be featured in the film. Grosz is one of the key artists of the Neue Sachlichkeit movement in Germany between World Wars I and II. The filmmaker will also interview Marty Grosz (who will present a jazz concert at the Museum on December 13) one of the days of the filming.
A few years later and I still haven't seen Marty perform live (though, I should note, my good friend Andy Brown performed at the same event as Marty, Jazz at Chautauqua, in September 2009. I decided it was time Marty had a website so I've started this labor of love in hopes that others may learn as much as they can about this fabulous entertainer and guitarist! Perhaps someone will tell Marty about this site and he might be convinced to let me post (and keep current) his TOUR SCHEDULE here... and maybe I won't miss his next performance in the Chicago area.
Sincerely,
Thomas Cray

UPDATE: December, 2010
As it turns out, someone DID tell Marty about his website. I'm happy to report that Marty is pleased with my efforts and over the past year I've had the pleasure of communicating with many of his fans from around the world. Recently, in fact, I was contacted by Jay Brodersen who allowed to me view a director's cut of his Documentary, "Rhythm Is My Business - An Evening With Marty Grosz" which, I'm happy to say, is splendid!
